The Bishop George Rueger Memorial Adopt-A-Student Golf Tournament will be held at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston on Aug. 26. It raises scholarship money to help students attend St. Paul Diocesan Jr./Sr. High School and St. Peter Central Catholic Elementary School.

As part of this renewal, eight priests gathered six times over twelve weeks to complete Divine Renovation’s kickstart program which includes watching videos and discussions. This program is the first step to begin the process of parish renewal.

The two Catholic parishes in Millbury are to be merged, with both churches to remain open, according to a decree from Bishop McManus.

WORCESTER – A Mustard Seed Catholic Worker summer program enabled children living nearby to help with the food pantry and free meals there, connect with their neighborhood, and experience the wider world.

Father Charles J. Dumphy, 95, of the Southgate Community in Shrewsbury, passed away Monday at the Christopher House.

Father Peter Howard White, 90, of Worcester, passed away peacefully with his family on July 15 in his home in Georgetown, IN. He was born in Worcester on May 19, 1934, the son of Arthur H. and Blanche R. (Michaud) White.

St. Ann Parish in the North Oxford section of Oxford grew out of St. Roch Parish in Oxford, and now is returning to its mother church with the Sept. 1 merger.

St. Ann Parish in the North Oxford section of Oxford will be merged into St. Roch Parish in Oxford Sept. 1. St. Roch’s campus will be used, and efforts will be made to sell St. Ann’s, according to a decree issued by Bishop McManus.

Sister Hilda Ponte, MPV, 91, of Worcester passed away peacefully on July 6 after a life of service to the Catholic faith.

Fifty years later, Miss Fitzgerald and Mr. McCarthy, both 86, are still running the parish’s appeal for what is now called Partners in Charity.

Bishop Reilly had St. Paul Cathedral renovated in 1996, turning it from a “barren, unappealing” place to “the beautiful church that it is today,” Msgr. Kelly said. The bishop also had to have the Chancery redone, “helped” by the March 1996 flood that left it in need of restoration.

Mr. Pike formerly worked at the Chancery and at the bishop’s private residence in Worcester, helping Bishop Harrington, Bishop Reilly’s predecessor, and Bishop Rueger, auxiliary bishop, with maintenance, lawn care, and “a little bit of everything.”

Bishop Reilly became a Knight in 1956 and the Providence native served as state chaplain in Rhode Island from the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s. He later became state chaplain in Connecticut during his 19 years as Bishop of Norwich. After serving as Bishop of Worcester for a decade and retiring in 2004 at age 75, he served as K of C state chaplain for eight years.
